Chicago Bears Future: Tradition at Risk?

One of the NFL’s oldest organizations is at risk of disappearing in the coming years. The chances that los Bears leave Chicago increase more and more after Indiana lawmakers unanimously approved an amendment to Indiana State Bill 27 in the State House Media Committee by a vote of 24-0, clearing the way for the Bears to build their new stadium in southeastern Indiana.

And it is that This bill would create the Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority with the power to issue bonds, acquire land and finance the construction of the stadium.

“The passage of SB 27 would mark the most significant step forward in our stadium planning efforts to date,” the Bears said in a statement, in which they also engaged with the state of Indiana to build a stadium near the Wolf Lake area of Hammond, Indiana.

“We appreciate the leadership shown by Governor BraunChairman Huston, Senator Mishler and members of the Indiana General Assembly in establishing this critical framework and path forward to deliver a premier venue for all of Chicago and a destination for Bears fans and visitors from around the world. “We value our partnership and look forward to continuing to build our working relationship together,” he added.

What did the governor of Indiana say?

Through a statement, Mike Braun, Governor of the State of Indianaassured that they are ready to continue with the construction of a new world-class stadium so that the Bears can leave Soldier Field.

“Indiana is open for businessand our pro-growth environment continues to attract great opportunities like this partnership with the Chicago Bears. We have identified a promising site near Wolf Lake in Hammond and established a broad framework to negotiate a final agreement. If approved, the proposed amendment to Senate Bill 27 presents the essential framework to complete this agreement, provided that site due diligence proceeds smoothly. The State of Indiana moves at the speed of business, and we have demonstrated this through our rapid coordination between state agencies, local government and the legislature to lay the foundation for a great victory for all Hoosiers. “We have forged a strong relationship with the Bears organization that will serve as the foundation for a public-private partnership that will lead to the construction of a world-class stadium and a benefit to taxpayers,” he wrote on his ‘X’ account.

Bears seek deal that includes public financing significant to complete its $2 billion private investment, and the high taxes, as well as the lack of a financing agreement.

Due to geographical proximity, chances are the Bears could keep the same name team, such as the New York Giants and the New York Jets, which are located in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzkerlamented the statement from the Chicago Bears. “We have made a lot of progress in that conversation with them. I am surprised, dismayed, very disappointed by what I saw,” said the Democrat.
