Riga “Prizma” beat OHL vice-champions for the second time in the season
On Saturday, February 1, in the “Optibet” Hockey League (OHL) match, Riga “Prizma” convincingly won the tournament vice-champions Jelgava “Zemgale”/LBTU with the result 4:2. This was the second victory for “Prism” over Jelgava players this season. In another game, HS “Rīga” beat Elektrēni “Energija” at home with a minimum score of 1:0.
An intense battle at the “Prism” square in Riga
The game between “HK Prizma” and “Zemgale”/LBTU took place in a dynamic and productive atmosphere. In the first period, both teams managed to save their goals, the score being 0:0. In the second third, the people of Riga demonstrated a more convincing performance, scoring three goals and taking the lead with 3:1. Viktors Kristaps Riekstiņš opened the scoring in the 25th minute, but less than seven minutes later, Patriks Zabusovs equalized. However, Riekstiņš quickly restored the advantage of “Prism”, but at the end of the period, Gustavs Alberts Moruzs doubled the home team’s advantage. In the third period of the game, “Zemgale”/LBTU tried to break the course of the game, Raul Ozolas reduced the score difference to a minimum in the 44th minute. However, Robert Yekimov quickly restored “Prism’s” two-goal advantage, realizing the numerical majority and ending the game with 4:2.
Riekstiņš and Yekimov are effective
The most productive player of “HK Prizma” in this match was Roberts Yekimov, who collected four points (1 goal, 3 assists), achieving an impressive number of points for the second game in a row. Kristaps Riekstiņš scored three points (2 goals, 1 assist). Patriks Zabusovs was the top scorer in “Zemgale”/LBTU with one goal and one assist. In the “Prism” goal, Jānis Auziņš saved 35 of 37 shots, demonstrating 94.59% efficiency of saved shots. “Zemgale”/LBTU goalkeepers Aksel Ozola and Patriks Plūmiņa together managed to save 15 out of 19 shots.

With this victory, “HK Prizma” with 34 points in 33 games strengthened its position in fifth place in the overall ranking of the Optibet Hockey League. “Zemgale”/LBTU with 49 points in 31 games maintains the third position, being behind the leaders “Mogo”/RSU and “HC Kyiv Capitals”.
HS “Rīga” minimal victory over “Energia”
In another match of the Optibet Hockey League, which took place on Saturday, HS “Rīga” won a victory over Elektrēna “Energija” with the result 1:0. The only goals in the game were scored in the second third, providing HS “Rīga” with important points. This victory allows HS “Rīga” to slightly improve its position in the tournament table, leaving “Energia” in the lowest part.
“Zemgale/LBTU” will play their next game on February 4 against Tallinn “Panter”, while “HK Prizma” will test their skills on February 10 against Riga Hockey School.
