No feat for Parisiennes! Opposed to OL Lyonnes for this poster of the 14th day of Arkema Premier League, Paulo Cesar’s players lost 1 goal to 0. They were punished by one of their former teammates, Tabitha Chawinga.
The meeting had started rather well for PSG, however, with the repeated incursions of Merveille Kanjinga into the Lyon area, the more distant attempts of Jennifer Echegini (6th, 15th) or Leuchter (12th) or even the good combinations between Sakina Karchaoui and Olga Carmona.
But they were punished on the counter, shortly after the first quarter of an hour of play. On one of her first forays into the Parisian camp, Tabitha Chawinga found the key from an off-center position to the left of the area. The attacker, in full flow, delivers a subtle cross shot into the opposite net. Too short, Mary Earps was unable to repel her attempt (23rd).
Mbock comes out injured
Immediately, Sakina Karchaoui gathered her teammates in a circle in front of the area, as if to re-mobilize them, but overall they were not dangerous or incisive enough in the last move to hope to come back into the score. Kanjinga’s attempts (68th, 70th) were unsuccessful, before OL Lyonnes finally got their foot back on the ball.
The presence of the Ultras in the Auteuil stand, noisy throughout the match, did not allow the Rouge et Bleu to transcend themselves. The Parisiennes also lost Griedge Mbock at the very end of the first half, without us yet knowing the seriousness of the injury.
With this result, and while Fleury beat Montpellier this Saturday (1-0), the Parisiennes find themselves in fifth place in the Arkema Premier League standings. Penalized by the loss of their nine points won against Strasbourg (1-0), Le Havre (2-0) and Fleury (4-0) due to an irregularity on Florianne Jourde’s license, they slipped outside the top 4, synonymous with qualification for the playoffs. We must not fail against Paris FC next weekend…
