The Eibar Igerixan swimmer Paula Calvo continues to take firm steps in her progression within national swimming, after experiencing a few days of … intense activity that confirms its sporting growth and its consolidation among the young promises of the state scene.
The Eibar swimmer Igerixan has participated in a concentration held in Madrid within the ‘Spain 2032’ program, promoted by the Royal Spanish Swimming Federation and aimed at developing talents with Olympic projection. Paula had the opportunity to train alongside some of the best young swimmers in the country, working under the supervision of national technicians and living an experience of great educational value at a technical and competitive level. This call represents recognition of the excellent work they have been doing in recent seasons and an important boost for their development.
With hardly any time to rest, Paula Calvo traveled last weekend to Pontevedra to compete in the Junior National Championship for Autonomous Federations. There he competed in the 50, 100 and 200 meter backstroke events, in addition to the 100 meter freestyle, completing a very solid performance in both the individual events and the relays.
The performance of the team as a whole allowed its federation to reach a creditable fourth position in the general classification, staying just short of the podium in a competition marked by equality and the high level of the participants. A result that reinforces the prominent role that Paula has been playing within the team and that confirms her ability to compete at the highest level.
The activity does not stop for Eibar Igerixan, which faces more action this weekend, full of important events. On the one hand, the Euskal Herria Junior-Absolute Championship will be held in the Amaya pools, in Pamplona, and on the other hand, the Gipuzkoa Tournament will take place in Zarautz.
