Giannis Antetokounmpo is staying with the Milwaukee Bucks! As NBA insider Shams Charania reported on Thursday evening, there will be no trade for the superstar.
There have been rumors for some time that the Greek is willing to change and could imagine a new start. The Bucks would have had until Thursday evening at 9 p.m. CEST to look for a trade partner, which is then the trade deadline in the NBA.
NBA: Golden State Warriors finalize deal
Citing his own sources, he wrote ESPN-Reporter: “The Milwaukee Bucks have signaled to other teams that they will keep Giannis Antetokounmpo through the end of the transfer deadline and make other transfers.”
Most recently, the Golden State Warriors were considered the hottest candidate for a trade. But the former champion negotiated a deal for Kristaps Porzingis from the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday evening, after which they were no longer eligible for an Antetokounmpo transfer.
Antetokounmpo’s future will remain an issue over the summer
Nevertheless, the Greek is said to still have intentions of moving, which is why NBA teams can compete for him again next summer.
His contract expires in 2027. Then he has a player option. If he doesn’t take it, Antetokounmpo will become a free agent.
