Trae NBA: Giannis Stays – Market Update

Giannis Antetokounmpo remained with the Milwaukee Bucks as the NBA trade deadline approached on Thursday, with two interested teams making other deals in the hours before time expired.

The 31-year-old Greek forward, two-time NBA MVP and protagonist of Milwaukee’s title in 2021, has been selected for the All-Star Game ten times and has attracted the interest of several teams, as the Bucks are 20-29 this season.

ESPN reported that the Bucks intend to retain Antetokounmpo and will make other trades, including trading Cole Anthony and Amir Coffey to Phoenix in exchange for Nick Richards and Nigel Hayes-Davis.

The Minnesota Timberwolves, who were hoping to pair Antetokounmpo with their star Anthony Edwards, instead acquired guard Ayo Dosunmu from Chicago, as reported by ESPN, which adds that the T-Wolves traded Rob Dillingham, Leonard Miller and four second-round picks of the NBA Draft to the Bulls in exchange for Dosunmu and forward Julian Phillips.

Late Wednesday, the Golden State Warriors appeared to have found the big man they were looking for, with a trade to Atlanta for Kristaps Porzingis, giving Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Hawks, according to multiple sources.

Among other Thursday trades reported by ESPN, Boston traded Chris Boucher to Utah, while the Los Angeles Lakers shipped Gabe Vincent and a 2032 second-round pick to the Hawks in exchange for guard Luke Kennard, who has the best three-point percentage this season at 49.7%.
