Indonesia Women’s Football: Semifinal Victory Over Thailand

JAKARTA – The Indonesian women’s badminton team advanced to the semi-finals of the Asian Badminton Doubles Championship or Asian Team Badminton Championship (BATC) 2026 after surpassing a revealed match against Thailand.

Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo and her friends overcame the trap with a 3-2 victory over the “White Souls” at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, China, Friday, February 6, 2026, noon Indonesian time.

Indonesia lost the score first when Thalita Ramadhani Wiryawan went down as the first player. She lost two direct games in an intense duel against Busanan Ongbamrungphan with a final score of 22-24 and 18-21.

Then the women’s doubles of Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma / Meilysa Tria Puspitasari, who fell in the second game, managed to equalize. This couple beat Tidapron Kleebyeesun / Nattamon Laisuan in two games 21-14 and 21-18.

Then, Ni Kadek Dhinda Amartya Pratiwi, who played in the third game, failed to bring Indonesia back ahead. He lost the rubber match 21-19, 17-21 and 13-21 against Pitchamon Opatniputh.

The Indonesian hope was then revealed by the ladies’ doubles Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti who reached the quarter-final. They easily defeated the Hathaithip Mijad/Napapakorn Tungkasatan pair in two direct games 21-13 and 21-9 to identify the score.

Indonesia’s victory was then determined by women’s doubles Ester Nurumi Tri Wardoyo. The badminton player from Papua took Indonesia to the semi-final by winning 21-13, 21-16 against Pornpicha Choeikeewong.

This is the second game played by Ester at BATC 2026. He previously played against Hong Kong in the first match of the group stage and managed to score points for Indonesia.

BATC 2026 is a tournament that marks the return of the 20-year-old. He had previously been out for a long time since the Taipei Open in May last year due to a fracture at the base of his right tibia during training at Pelatnas PBSI.

In the semi-final, the Indonesian team will face a tough test against South Korea. The country, which is the second big seed, secured a ticket to the semi-final after defeating Malaysia 3-0.
