Anthony Ginting: BATC 2026 Preparation & Content Focus

JAKARTA – Badminton player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting is very ready to go down in the 2026 Badminton Asian Team Championship (BATC) which was held in China this week.

The men’s and women’s doubles tournament between Asian countries is scheduled to take place from February 3 to 8, 2026 at Qingdao Conson Gymnasium, Qingdao. Ginting is one of 10 male players sent to the tournament.

Ginting, who recently recovered from a knee injury, said he was ready if he was put on. He also felt honored to be named captain to lead the team.

“After doing as much as possible yesterday, I am now certainly ready, down or not, because it all depends on the interest of the team. So what matters, yes, is that the mind is prepared to play first,” Ginting said.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist previously missed numerous matches last season. He then appeared only in the last semester, but achieved less optimal results.

This year, the 29-year-old played the first and only tournament to date at the Indonesia Masters last week. He couldn’t do much and was eliminated in the second round.

Ginting said the Indonesian men’s team, which is made up of many young players, seems to be able to talk a lot after the previous week’s success at the Thailand Masters 2026.

“It definitely adds confidence so they can play well here too. So, this is really an advantage for us,” said the badminton player from Cimahi, West Java.

In addition to Ginting, the Indonesian men’s team for the BATC this year consists of Leo Rolly Carnando, Bagas Maulana, Mohammad Zaki Ubaidillah, Raymond Indra, Nikolaus Joaquin, Muhammad Rian Ardianto, Rahmat Hidayat, Prahdiska Bagas Shujiwo and Richie Duta Richardo.

Men’s doubles Leo/Bagas and Raymond/Nikolaus and Ubaidillah are finalists at the Thailand Masters 2026. Leo/Bagas won the duel between the two Indonesian representatives for the title, while Ubaidillah defeated host representative Panitchaphon Teeraratsakil.

Indonesia will start the fight in BATC by fighting against Myanmar. On paper, Indonesia is heavily favored to score an easy victory against the opponent.
