Badminton: VfL Gemmrigheim Season Second Half Begins

At the beginning of the second half of the season, the athletes from SG Gemmrigheim/Neckarwestheim went to TV Tamm II on Saturday, January 31st, 2026.

TV Tamm, as second in the table and therefore directly next to them in the table, should not be an easy opponent.

Björn Kraut and Julius Link played the first men’s doubles. Both had to admit defeat after two sets. In the second men’s doubles, Lukas Weberruß and Claus Schittenhelm were initially victorious, but then fell behind. In the third set, all energy reserves were activated and the first game point was made clear for the SG.

The SG could not fill the women’s doubles.

In the first men’s singles, Julius Link had a tough nut to crack. Beautiful actions and motivated rallies determined the game. In the end, the host was ahead by a hair’s breadth. Rita Herold had no chance in the women’s singles.

Most recently, Björn Kraut, Lukas Weberruß in the singles and Rita Herold/Claus Schittenhelm in the mixed doubles stepped parallel to the edge of the net. Everyone had the possible draw in mind. In the end, a real badminton crime thriller developed. Lukas Weberruß quickly made it clear that he had nothing to lose and took the point. In the mixed doubles, Herold and Schittenhelm initially went down mercilessly, but fought their way forward significantly in the second set. Only the extended third sentence brought the decision in favor of the SG.

Björn Kraut initially led in the singles, but was then forced into a third set, in which he narrowly lost. The match ended 5:3 for TV Tamm II.

Despite the defeat, the SG remains in third place in the table.

The next matchday will take place on February 21st, 2026 away from TV Markgröningen and SV Illingen III.
