Youth Basketball Group Competitions, organized within the scope of the 2025-2026 Academic Year School Sports activity program under the coordination of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, started in Karabük between 12-15 January 2026.
Approximately 300 athletes, coaches and administrators from 8 different provinces are participating in the organization hosted by Karabük. Throughout the tournament, young athletes will compete fiercely on the field to achieve first place in the group.
In the Young Girls Basketball Group Competitions, Bolu Sports High School, Bartın Köksal Toptan Anatolian High School, Ankara TED College Foundation Private High School, Kırıkkale Private Güleç ABC Science High School, Düzce Atatürk Anatolian High School, Kastamonu Prof. Dr. Fuat Sezgin Anatolian High School and Ankara Private Nesibe Aydın Science High School teams are included.
In the Young Men’s Basketball Group Competitions, Kastamonu Science High School, Bolu Science High School, Karabük TED College Foundation Anatolian High School, Kırıkkale Private Güleç ABC Science High School, Zonguldak TED Karadeniz Ereğli College Foundation High School, Bartın Köksal Toptan Anatolian High School, Düzce Atatürk Anatolian High School, Ankara Private Arı Anatolian High School and Çankırı Turkey Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges Science High School are competing.
The opening ceremony of the competitions was held at Karabük Yeni Mahalle Sports Hall. Speaking after the moment of silence and the reading of the National Anthem, Youth and Sports Provincial Director Coşkun Güven drew attention to the role of sports in the physical, mental and social development of young people.
Güven said, “School sports have a very important place in raising our young people as disciplined, self-confident and team-spirited individuals. As Karabük, we are happy to host such a meaningful organization. I wish success to all our athletes.”
Speaking at the program, Provincial Director of National Education Nevzat Akbaş emphasized the importance of carrying out sports together with education and expressed his wishes for success to all teams participating in the competitions.
