Jamie Leweling should definitely stay at VfB Stuttgart this winter. Alexander Wehrle, CEO of the Swabians, made this clear again on Tuesday evening before the 3-2 win against Eintracht Frankfurt.
“Yes,” said the 50-year-old when asked Sky-Moderator Nele Ocik asked whether Leweling was not for sale – no matter what the financially strong players from the Premier League would offer.
The case differs significantly from that of Nick Woltemade. “Jamie made it very clear personally that a change was out of the question for him. Unlike Nick. Nick absolutely wanted to leave the club,” explained Wehrle.
Woltemade gets his way
The 23-year-old Woltemade pushed for a transfer last summer and finally got his way. He moved to Newcastle United for a transfer fee of up to 90 million euros. A similar process should not be repeated at Leweling.
“Jamie has a lot of plans for us. We’re doing well in all three competitions. That’s why we’re looking forward to lots of games together with Jamie Leweling. He’ll definitely stay with us,” said Wehrle.
Even if such a sum is offered as Woltemade?
Leweling? “Don’t want it”
“We have completed that. Because the essential thing is: the player himself doesn’t want to change. We don’t want it either,” explained Wehrle.
Leweling is said to be on the list of various Premier League clubs – including Bournemouth. According to his own statement, a change is out of the question for the 24-year-old.
“The classic phrase is: ‘I don’t want to leave, I want to stay here.’ And that’s true too. We have plans as a team. It’s nice to get offers, but I feel comfortable here,” Leweling said on Saturday Sky.
