ASEAN Para Games 13: triumphant return of the Vietnamese disabled sports delegation
The delegation of disabled athletes from Vietnam officially returned to the country after completing its journey during the 13es ASEAN Para Games, which took place from January 15 to 27 in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand.

To facilitate the return of the 185 members including 141 athletes, the delegation was divided into several groups destined for the three major national metropolises: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Despite a land journey of approximately 300 km linking the competition site to Suvarnabhumi international airport (Bangkok), the transfer took place in excellent conditions, guaranteeing safety, comfort and optimal care for the athletes and technical staff.
In Hanoi, the athletes were welcomed by Nguyên Hong Minh, deputy director of the Vietnam Sports Authority, as well as representatives of the National Paralympic Committee and many families.
On behalf of the sports authorities, Nguyên Hong Minh presented bouquets of flowers and praised the exceptional performances of the delegation, stressing that each athlete demonstrated admirable resilience to achieve, and even exceed, the set goals.
During this continental edition, Vietnamese athletes competed in eleven disciplines: athletics, swimming, powerlifting, badminton, table tennis, chess, judo, boccia, archery, wheelchair tennis and wheelchair fencing.
The final results are particularly laudatory: 144 medals in total, including 38 gold, 48 silver and 58 bronze. With these results, Vietnam ranks fifth overall, far surpassing its initial goal of 30 to 35 gold medals.
