A night of horror. In a press release published this Thursday, December 1 in the early evening, FC Metz announced that one of its trainee players, Tahirys Dos Santos, was among those injured in the fire in a bar in the ski resort of Crans-Montana, in Switzerland, which left around forty dead.
According to the club, the 19-year-old was “seriously burned”. He was “flown to Germany, where he is currently receiving treatment.”
“The managers, players, coaches and employees of the club are in shock and unite their thoughts to address them to Tahirys, in these hours when he is fighting suffering,” writes the Metz club, sending “its full support” to his family.
On vacation with friends
According to the newspaper L’Équipe, the young player enjoyed a few days of vacation in the mountains with friends, and stayed in the chalet of one of them. He was due to return to training on Monday.

“News from Tahirys will be transmitted in the event of a significant change in his state of health. In the meantime, FC Metz asks everyone to please respect the private life of Tahirys and his family,” the press release concludes.
Six French people were injured and eight others have not yet been located, according to a new report communicated Thursday evening by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The Quai d’Orsay had indicated in the morning that two French people had been injured in this accidental fire during New Year’s Eve, which left around forty dead and more than a hundred injured.
