Marcel Sobottka is currently without a club. Now he wants to apply for a place at VfL Bochum’s training camp – and he meets an old friend there.

The currently clubless professional Marcel Sobottka is training with second division club VfL Bochum. The 31-year-old will travel to the training camp in Belek, Turkey, on Sunday to show himself to coach Uwe Rösler, VfL announced.

Sobottka has been without a club since last summer. He previously played for Fortuna Düsseldorf from 2015 to 2025. However, the club did not extend the contract with the midfielder.

Sobottka also knows Rösler from his time at Fortuna, who coached the Düsseldorf team for almost a year and a half from January 2020 to summer 2021.
