Manchester City has done a great job towards the final of the English League Cup. In the first leg they won 0-2 at Newcastle. Newcomer Semenyo opened the scoring after a rush from Doku down the left flank. In the absolute final seconds, Cherki gave his team an even better starting position.
An adjustment period? Antoine Semenyo doesn’t care about that.
After his successful debut at Manchester City against Exeter City – good for a goal and an assist – the wing attacker was also scheduled to play in the League Cup.
After the break he broke the spell against Newcastle. Jeremy Doku scoured his left flank, Semenyo was the perfect finishing station for the 0-1. Moments later he put away his second goal, but the VAR stopped it.
With a head start into the second leg in Manchester? Pep Guardiola and his followers were interested in that. So it seemed to be heading for a 0-1.
Until City combined one more time around the 100th minute. Once again Semenyo was involved with quick taps, this time Cherki was the finisher.
