Rugby Coach Exonerated: Harassment Case Dismissed

It was his union, Tech XV, which revealed the information on social networks on Monday. Former coach of the French women’s rugby sevens team (2010-2024), David Courteix was exonerated in a case of possible moral harassment, revealed in March 2025. This was triggered by the report, in January of the same year, of one of his former players.

“He was accused of overtraining, early recovery after certain injuries, as well as his managerial practice,” explains the union in a press release. An investigation by the Ministry of Sports, his employer, had been opened and the French Rugby Federation (FFR) had been asked to relieve him of all duties with a women’s team, which was already the case.

In the staff of the France U20 team

The ministry’s investigation concluded that there was no reason to sanction the technician, who was informed of the outcome of the case last week by mail. “At the end of this procedure, David Courteix is found innocent of all the charges,” believes Tech XV.

Contacted, the French rugby federation (FFR) has not reacted for the moment. When requested, the Ministry of Sports has not yet commented on this information.

Olympic vice-champion with the Blues at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, David Courteix left the French rugby sevens team after the 2024 Paris Games ended in the quarter-final while the Tricolores were aiming for at least a podium. He has since joined the staff of the French U20 men’s team, where he is in charge of defense.
