The victory over Genoa is also important for Roma, who are trying to maintain their position in the top four after losing to Juventus last week. Gian Piero Gasperini’s troops returned to fourth place with 33 points, one point ahead of Juventus and three points behind Inter Milan at the top.
“A very important win tonight, especially after the defeat in Turin, we needed three points to be in our current position. We can improve, especially against the teams above us,” said Roma striker Matias Soule after the match.
