Sergio Ramos has reached an agreement with Seville’s major shareholder, which will see him acquire his childhood sweetheart. The 39-year-old defender wants to return his club to the Spanish top.
Ramos has dominated the sports news in Spain since Sunday evening. According to various renowned media, the thirty-something has signed a deal with the current owners of Seville.
If this deal becomes official, Ramos will be the new owner of Sevilla. He is supported by an investment company that wants to pump no less than 450 million euros into the club.
Sevilla can use that money. Financially, things have been going less well for years at Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán.
Yet Ramos is ambitious. He wants to bring back the glory years in Seville. It is still unclear whether this immediately heralds the end of his football career.
Ramos said goodbye to Monterrey at the beginning of this year. He missed out on winning the national title with the Mexican club.
In 34 official matches for Monterrey, Ramos managed to score eight goals. He hasn’t officially hung up his boots yet.
