Sarreguemines M25 Tennis: Arthur Bouquier Returns as Arthur Nagel Reaches Final

Arthur Nagel secured his place in the final at the Internationaux de Sarreguemines, advancing through a competitive field in Moselle, as reported by Le Republicain Lorrain. The tournament, hosted at the AS Sarreguemines Tennis courts on Avenue de la Blies, runs from October 18 to October 25, offering free admission to spectators throughout the week. Matches begin every day from 10 h or 11 h, following qualifications held on Sunday, October 18, and Monday, October 19, with matches running all day until the evening, featuring a marquee match scheduled at 18 h each night alongside a Wednesday kids’ day, a Saturday morning doubles tournament, a Friday evening doubles final, Saturday semi-finals, and a Sunday morning final, all supported by club children acting as ball kids, an on-site physiotherapist throughout all matches, and a doctor available by telephone to meet the heavy specifications of the French Tennis Federation.

Tournament Director Highlights Field Strength

AS Sarreguemines Tennis president Nicolas Schwartz, overseeing his ninth edition of the tournament, noted that the event features a particularly strong player roster. The draw includes two players ranked inside the world’s top 300, alongside former top-50 player Marterer—who previously faced Rafael Nadal in the third round of Roland Garros—and several former top-200 competitors. Schwartz described the lineup as unprecedented for the venue, which operates as a second-tier stepping stone for young professionals seeking ATP ranking points, where the tournament winner earns 25 ATP points while drawing players ranked between 260th and 900th globally, a group that historically includes every single current member of the French top 10 such as Arthur Fils, Giovanni Mpetshi, Arthur Géa, Arthur Cazaux, and Ugo Humbert, as well as past French standouts Gilles Simon and Arnaud Clément who played at the venue when they were young and unknown, alongside volunteers preparing the site.

Arthur Bouquier Returns Following Foot Injuries

The $25,000 tournament also marked the competitive return of Arthur Bouquier. Sidelined since March 1 due to two consecutive stress fractures in his foot, the Boulogne-sur-Mer player entered the Moselle draw ranked 748th globally. Bouquier gained match fitness by winning a CNGT tournament in Gravelines against Luc Bouquet before traveling to eastern France, where he opened his Sarreguemines campaign with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over sixth-seeded Dutchman Niels Visker. However, Bouquier’s run ended in the second round, where Le Progrès noted his elimination.

Local Players Target ATP Points and Australian Open Qualification

Additional qualifying success in Moselle came via Antoine Walch and Adan Freire Da Silva. Meanwhile, Matteo Martineau traveled to Lorraine as the tournament’s second seed, holding a world ranking of 243rd as he targets qualification for the Australian Open following a finalist finish in Roanne. Local hopes are also carried by club juniors Nicolas Gry and Matteo Waring, who aim for their maiden ATP points, alongside past champion Tom Paris.
