French singles players Adrian Mannarino and Terence Atmane were eliminated in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250 tournament in Almaty, Kazakhstan, exiting the hard-court event on Friday. Mannarino fell in straight sets to Georgia’s Nikoloz Basilashvili, while Atmane lost in two sets to fifth-ranked Daniil Medvedev.
Nikoloz Basilashvili Overwhelms Adrian Mannarino in Straight Sets
Adrian Mannarino missed out on the Almaty semifinals after a 6-3, 6-1 defeat to Nikoloz Basilashvili. The second set deteriorated quickly for the Frenchman, who lost six consecutive games after capturing the opening game.
The fixture carried a competitive edge for Basilashvili, coming two weeks after their meeting at the Shanghai Masters where the Georgian retired. Playing as a qualifier in Kazakhstan, Basilashvili extended his tournament run without dropping a set.
Mannarino opened the match aggressively, earning an early break point that he failed to convert. Basilashvili immediately capitalized, breaking the Frenchman’s serve to secure the first set 6-3 despite facing two break opportunities.
Daniil Medvedev Halts Terence Atmane With Dominant Serving Performance
Terence Atmane encountered a similar exit, losing 6-4, 6-4 to Daniil Medvedev in one hour and 15 minutes. Medvedev relied heavily on his first delivery, winning 91 percent of the points played behind his initial serve.
The Russian did not concede a single break point during the match. Atmane held his ground in baseline rallies but failed to disrupt Medvedev’s service games, conceding an early break in the second set to seal the result.
Despite the quarterfinal loss, Atmane is projected to climb nine spots in the ATP rankings, reflecting a steady upward trajectory on the professional tour.

Semifinal Lineups Set at the Almaty Arena
With both French contenders eliminated, the Almaty tournament continues without French representation in the singles draw. Nikoloz Basilashvili advances to face Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, who defeated Australia’s James Duckworth 6-3, 6-4.
In the opposite half of the draw, Daniil Medvedev awaits the winner of the duel between Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik and Russia’s Karen Khachanov.
