The Wohnbau Assindia Cardinals are pleased to welcome Oliver Kluss, an extremely experienced and club-loyal football expert, as the Men in Blue’s new offensive line coach. With him, not only is a proven expert returning to the sidelines, but also a coach who knows the club, its values and its structures very well.
Oliver Kluss looks back on a long and impressive career in American football. As a player, he gained experience at a high sporting level over many years – including in the youth performance and Oberliga Hessen, the Regionalliga Mitte and the GFL2. Stations such as the Mainz Golden Eagles, Wiesbaden Phantoms and especially the Bochum Cadets shaped his active career, in which he was even named MVP of the offensive line in 2005.
After his playing career ended, Kluss consistently chose the sidelines. From 2012, he initially worked as an offensive line coach in the Bochum Cadets youth sector, before playing a key role in the establishment and development of the Wohnbau Assindia Cardinals’ youth programs for many years. In various roles – from offensive line coach to offensive coordinator to head coach of the U19 – he shaped numerous players and teams, imparted football expertise, discipline and team spirit and left a lasting mark on the club both in terms of sport and humanity.
After further coaching positions, including in the men’s division of the Bochum Rebels, Oliver Kluss is now returning to the Cardinals. For him, returning to the Men in Blue is more than just a new commitment – it is a conscious coming home. His decision is correspondingly clear and convincing:
“I consciously chose the Cardinals and head coach Nils Müller because I share his vision that the Cardinals have the perfect structure to get back to where they belong in the medium term. It won’t be an easy path, but I’m ready to overcome every hurdle that comes along with the coaching crew. With that in mind: Go Cards.”
The Wohnbau Assindia Cardinals are convinced that they have found the right person for this key position in Oliver Kluss. His expertise, his clear communication and his deep identification with the club will make an important contribution to the stability and further development of the Men in Blue’s offensive line.
