Nîmes is preparing to welcome the archery elite: a significant event for the city
In Nîmes, the 28th edition of the International Indoor Archery Tournament promises to be unforgettable
From January 15 to 18, 2026, Nîmes will transform into a true world archery scene with the holding of the 28th edition of its International Indoor Archery Tournament. Organized by the Arc Club of Nîmes, this event has established itself as an essential reference in the world of archery. The integration of this competition into the Indoor World Series circuit makes it a major event for athletes and enthusiasts.
An exceptional international crowd in the heart of Gard
Nearly 1,350 athletes from the four corners of the globe, representing 48 nationalities, are expected for this milestone on the world calendar. This fifth round, which follows competitions in Lausanne, Luxembourg, Taipei and Rio de Janeiro, promises a thrilling spectacle with finals broadcast live. For the occasion, three emblematic places in Nîmes will be dedicated to the competition: the Palais des Sports – Le Parnasse, the Parc des Expositions and L’Estanque, offering an ideal setting to highlight the talent of the competitors.
The Nîmes will not be left out, with the participation of two local figures: the 2024 Olympic vice-champions, Baptiste Addis and Jean-Charles Valladont. Thierry Procida, deputy for sport, also underlined: “ Nîmes is more than ever a city of sport“. These high-level athletes embody the commitment and sporting dynamism of Nîmes, supported by a local community of more than 40,000 members.
A significant economic impact for the city of Antonin
The growing notoriety of the tournament since its first edition in 2003 has had notable economic repercussions on Nîmes. The benefits amount to around two million euros per weekend, notably thanks to hotel nights and spending by visitors in bars and restaurants. This flow helps to boost the local economy, particularly in January, a generally quieter period for tourism.
Olivier Grillat, sports director of the Arc Club, explains that the success of the tournament is based on solid foundations. Firstly, the performances of young talents, who are encouraged to exceed their limits. Secondly, the importance of the involvement of volunteers and local sports clubs cannot be underestimated. “ The tournament has a positive economic impact, especially at a time of year when tourism is usually calm“, he underlines, highlighting the collective commitment which is the strength of this event.
Nîmes is therefore establishing itself not only as a mecca for archery, but also as a city where sport and local culture intertwine to create memorable moments. This event creates the link between sporting passion and economic dynamism, as recalled in this article fromObjective Gard.
In short, the 28th edition of the International Indoor Archery Tournament is a dream opportunity both for high-level athletes and amateurs, but also for the economic development of Nîmes, strengthening its status as a sporting capital. Mark your calendars!
