The party is slightly spoiled. While OGC Nice ended its series of 18 European matches without a victory this Thursday by beating the Dutch Go Ahead Eagles in the Europa League, incidents occurred in the stands during the first period of the match. However, the game was not interrupted.
After Nice’s first goal in the 10th minute of the match, scored by Belgian midfielder Charles Vanhoutte, a crowd movement of around a hundred Nice supporters coming from the Populaire Sud stand towards the Dutch yard was observed. 1,745 people attended the meeting.
Dozens of people pushed back
There followed significant tension with the stewards present to protect the surroundings of the parking lot. Several dozen people crossed the security cordon to try to fight the Dutch fans at the plexiglass level of the stand reserved for visitors, before being pushed back by the police. The progress of the match was not disrupted.
This meeting marked the return of the Populaire Sud ultras for a Nice match at home after the incidents which took place on November 30 at the OGC Nice training center, where Nice players were attacked by disgruntled supporters on their return from a defeat in Lorient. Two players, still on sick leave, and the club filed a complaint against X.
