French Sports Marina Ferrari has initiated formal proceedings to strip the French Automobile Sport Federation (FFSA) of its official government accreditation following a six-month administrative inspection.
Government Action Follows Months of Inspection
The Ministry of Sports launched the inspection process in March, leading to the threat of accreditation withdrawal first reported on Oct. 8. On Thursday, Oct. 22, Ferrari confirmed to L’Équipe that the ultimate sanction for a national sports federation is now formally underway. “In view of the findings established, I have decided to initiate a procedure with a view to withdrawing the Federation’s accreditation,” Ferrari stated. The ministry has opened a 15-day adversarial phase, giving the governing body time to review the stated grievances, present observations, and submit arguments.
Investigation Reveals Systemic Shortcomings in National Organization
The investigation uncovered multiple systemic shortcomings within the national organization. Investigators identified suspected conflicts of interest, violations of the French Sports Code regarding democratic functioning within federal instances, and a strained social climate. These findings directly challenge the federation’s operational structure.

Olympic Committee Calls for Strong Responses
The French National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSF) formally acknowledged the ministry’s decision on Thursday. The committee noted that the move stems from deep-seated governance failures previously highlighted during a CNOSF-led conciliation procedure. In July, that mediation effort recommended holding fresh elections to stabilize the leadership. According to the national sports body, the current situation demands strong responses. The CNOSF is now working alongside the ministry to evaluate the consequences of the accreditation withdrawal for French motorsports, its clubs, licensed participants, and scheduled competitions.
As the 15-day adversarial period progresses, the FFSA faces a critical window to respond to the government’s grievances before a final decision on its sporting authority is reached.
