Jose Antonio Morante Antúnez, son of maestro Morante de la Puebla, debuted this afternoon with the Real Betis first team against PAOK in Thessaloniki just in the week in which the return to the rings of … his father with several bullfights scheduled for the next Seville Fair, including the one on Easter Sunday. The young winger, 18 years old, has stood out in the Betis youth team of the División de Honor, with which he was champion of the Champions Cup last season, and in Betis Deportivo before now making the leap to the first team under the guidance of Manuel Pellegrini.
Morante, a left-footed winger who usually plays on the right wing, is the twenty-fifth youth player to debut with the Chilean coach at Betis since 2020. The previous ones this season were Corralejo and Bladi. Morante entered the field at the same time as Dani Pérez, replacing Pablo García and Lo Celso in the 68th minute. He had little role in the duel and committed a penalty on Konstantelias in the final stretch of the clash in Greece, which ended with a 2-0 Betic defeat.
Recently called up to play with the Spanish under-19 team, Morante is one of the strongest assets of the green and white youth team. It is renewed by the Heliopolitan club until June 2028 after the agreement signed during 2025. He arrived in the lower ranks of Betis in 2022 from Coria.
