The time is approaching for the 2026 Winter Olympics which will be held from February 6 to 22, mainly in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo, two cities in northern Italy. In total, 15 sites spread across eight different locations will host the different events of the competition.
Of these 15 sites, five will be in Milan and its suburbs: the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza/San Siro – home of Inter Milan and AC Milan – for the opening ceremony (February 6), the PalaItalia Santa Giulia and the Milano Hockey Arena for hockey, as well as the Milano Ice Skating Arena and the Rho Fiera Milano for figure, short-track and speed skating.
In Cortina d’Ampezzo – 150 km east of Milan – the second most important venue for these Games, 3 venues will allow the taking of five disciplines, namely alpine skiing (at the Olympia delle Tofane), curling (at the Cortina Olympic Stadium) and sliding sports such as bobsleigh and luge (at the Cortina Sliding Centre).
The sites of Livigno and Bormio – which are located in the north of the country a few kilometers from the Swiss border – will host freestyle skiing and snowboarding events on one side, and alpine skiing and ski mountaineering on the other. The Anterselva site, near Cortina, will host the biathlon events.
Finally, the Predazzo and Tesero sites will be the scene of Nordic combined, ski jumping and cross-country skiing. The city of Verona will organize opening and closing ceremonies.
