Lindsey Vonn Crash: Winter Olympics 2026 Prep Hit by Fall

Stupor in Crans-Montana. Skier Lindsey Vonn fell heavily on Friday during her descent in Switzerland, the last stage of the World Cup. One week before the Milan-Cortina Olympic Games, the American was unbalanced at the start of the course and finished in the net. She got back down on her skis, grimacing and stopping regularly to hold her left knee.

In the process, the World Cup round was canceled, despite the incomprehension of the participants. Vonn was the third to make a mistake in the net. The 2010 Olympic downhill champion made a resounding comeback last season after five absences and an operation to replace part of her right knee with a titanium prosthesis.

Two victories this winter

This winter, the three-time Olympic medalist won the downhills in St. Moritz and Zauchensee. Enough to make it one of the attractions of the 2026 Winter Games. This fall therefore comes at the worst time for the American.

Lindsey Vonn was surprised by the conditions. “We can’t see anything and it’s bumpy everywhere,” reacted Frenchwoman Romane Miradoli. The organizers did not want to take any further risks. Half of the six skiers who started did not finish.
