About the autumn league fiasco and responsibility
Václav Brabec: “Of course, we are terribly sorry. We experienced a historic season in many respects, unfortunately, we didn’t get past Celje in the summer. Everyone blames us, and rightly so, for selling out the squad. If the same situation happened again, I would give the players permission again. It is our fault that we did not bring replacements. In retrospect, I would have reacted differently. In addition, Kohút, Kubala, Holzer, Boula were injured. I believe that it has worked out now. I take it, It’s a fiasco, and we can see the consequences in the table. I approve of all the departures and arrivals. We are responsible for it, not the porter at Bazale.”
In September I talked about the hysteria, I was really convinced that it was premature. That’s why I’m more careful about what I say. We produce players for professional football, we won the youth league, played in the Champions League, women are in the top competition, the club has a stable budget and has returned to Europe. Béčko is in the second league, we benefit from a great academy. And to that Bazaly. The best period in the ten years I’ve been at the club. Unfortunately, the fall failed and overshadowed everything else. But I don’t want to say that everything is fine. However, I am afraid of rescue fights, and if it fails, it would be a disaster.
Michal Belák: It’s not the fault of one or two people. Those who signed up for previous successes also signed up for this fiasco. From the players, through the implementer – former and current – to the management. It’s up to all of us. Ačko is still only one team, albeit the most important one. Others are doing great and the academy is the way. We have to do well, have the region under control and not allow players to go elsewhere. It turned out that investing in Vista made sense.
