Bayern star Konrad Laimer was injured in the win against Cologne. Now the people of Munich have announced the bitter diagnosis for the Austrian.
Munich – After the 3-1 win against the 1. FC Cologne those responsible worried FC Bayern about Konrad Laimer. In the afternoon, the record champions announced the diagnosis: Laimer will be out for the time being with a torn muscle fiber in his left calf. The Munich team did not announce how long the Austrian is expected to be absent.
Laimer had to leave the field shortly before the end of the game against Cologne after a collision, so the Munich team spent the last few moments on the pitch with ten men because the substitution quota had already been exhausted. “If I saw it correctly, he felt something in his calf,” said head coach Vincent Kompany after the game. “Tomorrow we will be in Munich, then he will go straight into the scanner.” Now the result confirmed fears of a failure.
Bayern star Konrad Laimer suffers a torn muscle fiber in his left calf
Laimer is likely to miss several of Munich’s competitive games with the torn muscle fiber. A downtime of two to six weeks – depending on the severity – is common with this injury. This means that the 28-year-old is likely to miss at least the upcoming Bundesliga games against Leipzig (January 17th) and Augsburg (January 24th), as well as the Champions League games against Union Saint-Gilloise (January 21st) and PSV Eindhoven (January 28th).
The loss is bitter for Laimer himself and Kompany, as the Austrian is one of the regulars in the current season and is considered a starter on the right side of defense. There have already been a total of 26 competitive games this season, with Laimer scoring two goals and eight strong assists.
Laimer’s injury is now creating a bottleneck on FCB’s right defensive side. Josip Stanisic recently suffered an ankle injury, while Sacha Boey is currently out due to illness Joshua Kimmich is still struggling with ankle problems. In the next game against RB, Raphaël Guerreiro is likely to play at the back right – there is still an emergency solution Jonathan Tah or Tom Bischof in question. (LuHa)
