Not his first misstep
Next scandal: Ex-Bundesliga professional pushes and insults fellow players
He once hunted for goals in the Bundesliga for Wolfsburg and Union Berlin, now Kevin Behrens plays in Switzerland. There, too, he creates negative headlines.
Former Bundesliga player Kevin Behrens once again made a negative impression by freaking out. During the friendly match against Czech first division team Viktoria Pilsen (2:4) on Friday morning, Behrens, who now plays for FC Lugano in Switzerland, pushed his teammate Georgios Koutsias to the ground for no apparent reason and insulted him badly.
On the recordings of the live stream, Behrens can be heard calling Koutsias a “little freak” and asking him to be quiet. FC Lugano condemned the incident “clearly” in a statement. The club announced that it would examine the matter internally and decide on possible disciplinary action. There was initially no reaction from Behrens.
A friendly match… and a shocking scene.
In the 72nd minute against Plzen, Kevin Behrens violently attacks his teammate Georgios Koutsias 😳 Pushing, insults, total incomprehension on the pitch.

Kevin Behrens had already attracted negative attention before
It is not the first time that Behrens has attracted negative attention. The attacker, who played for Union Berlin and VfL Wolfsburg among others in his career, already attracted criticism in autumn 2024. As part of a marketing campaign, he refused to sign a Wolfsburg jersey designed in rainbow colors as a symbol of diversity and tolerance. There was a homophobic statement (the star reported). VfL Wolfsburg condemned the incident and punished Behrens. The player later publicly apologized for his “not okay” words.
