Cruzeiro made official, this Monday (12/1), the contract renewal with striker Kaio Jorge. With the new agreement, the celestial club extended the top scorer’s contract by one year and six months – it now expires on December 31, 2030.

“OK has become a habit. In the goal, in the stands, in the photo, with the kids, in the daily lives of Cruzeiro fans. This gesture that is part of our routine continues to be blue. Cruzeiro renewed with Kaio Jorge and K continues with Nação Azul until 2030”, the club published on social media.

The signing of the new contract was held at Mineirão between Kaio Jorge and the president of SAF do Cruzeiro, Pedro Lourenço (see the video below).

“I’m very happy with today, a very important day in my career as a professional player. Renewing my contract here at Mineirão is something very gratifying, with the presence of the president, who made a great effort for me to stay. One of the reasons that led me to renew here at Cruzeiro is the affection I have for the fans and the fans have for me”, declared KJ.

Kaio Jorge in Flamengo’s sights

Kaio Jorge was in Flamengo’s sights for the 2026 season.

On December 28, 2025, Flamengo offered Cruzeiro 30 million euros for Kaio Jorge. Cruzeiro immediately refused and, as determined by the No Attackset a price for the player: 50 million euros – or R$340 million reais at the current price.

Despite the refusal, Rubro-Negro still proposed another deal to Raposa, who again declined due to not meeting the previously detailed value.

However, Pedro Lourenço, owner of SAF celeste, guaranteed that Kaio Jorge would remain in Belo Horizonte.

“Kaio Jorge is from Cruzeiro. There is no proposal. Kaio Jorge remains at Cruzeiro”, declared Pedrinho on January 8th.

Kaio Jorge at Cruzeiro

Kaio Jorge transferred to Cruzeiro in June 2024. The celestial club paid Juventus, from Italy, around R$37 million, involving fixed and variable costs.

Initially, the striker generated distrust, but he ended his first season with Raposa with seven goals and two assists in 23 matches.

At the beginning of this year, Kaio Jorge needed a few matches to recover from a muscle injury and regain his rhythm. After he returned to the team, he never left. A pillar of the offensive system, he established himself as one of Cruzeiro’s main names at the start of the Brazilian Championship (third place) and the Copa do Brasil (semi-finalist).

In 2025, KJ became the protagonist of the Celestial attack, scoring 26 goals and distributing nine assists in 46 matches. He was also the top scorer in the Copa do Brasil, with five goals.
