Jelgava Track & Field: Top Athlete Results

As coach Alona Fomenko explains, the results of track and field athletes are evaluated according to the points system of the World Athletics Association (WA points), thus giving the opportunity to compare the performance of athletes, despite the fact that they compete in different athletics disciplines.

In 2025, the highest result in the women’s competition belongs to Alisa Blau (pictured), who won the long jump at the competition in Vilnius with a result of 6.09 meters, which was evaluated with 1018 WA points. “It should be emphasized that Alice only recently crossed the 15-year-old threshold, and her results last year confirm Alice’s talent not only in Latvia, but also on a European and global scale. For example, the amount of points obtained by Alice in the pentathlon would correspond to the 5th position in the world ranking for U-18 age athletes. “It corresponds” because the world ranking starts to be made only from the U-18 age group,” explains the coach. On the other hand, in the men’s competition last year, javelin thrower Gatis Čakš showed the highest result, who threw the javelin 77.61 meters in the competition in the Czech Republic and won 3rd place with 1067 WA points.

According to A. Fomenko, the 2025 top of Jelgava track and field athletes includes the 10 highest score holders, judging only one highest score of each athlete, which was presented in the 2025 season and exceeds the limit of 800 WA points. Athletes are not divided by age or gender. The list also includes athletes from Jelgava Children and Youth Sports School, Jelgava Athletics Club, and other Jelgava sports clubs who competed in athletics disciplines.

The first two positions of the top rank respectively G. Chaksh and A.BLAwhich are followed and take the third place Emily Brown – she posted a result of 5.93 meters in the long jump, equivalent to 983 WA points. In the fourth position is Emily Viksnawhose 400-meter time of 56.81 seconds earned her 947 WA points. The representative of the orienteering club “Alnis” takes the fifth place in the top Ilze Jumikewho ran the 21-kilometer distance in Jelgava night half-marathon in 1:20.50 hours and earned 918 WA points. It was also the highest result of Jelgava residents in the Jelgava Night Half Marathon. Takes the sixth place in the top Anastasia Fomenko with 914 WA points earned for running the 60m in 7.94 seconds. The seventh, eighth place is shared Elina Maruščak and For Karlina Strele – not only did they earn an identical number of WA points (908), but they also covered the same distance in identical times. Namely, both athletes ran the 60-meter sprint in 7.96 seconds. Ranks in the ninth position Albertina Rudneva – she ran the 3000m steeplechase in 11:31.4 minutes and scored 886 WA points. The top is closed Beata Blaua with her long jump result of 5.45 meters, she earned 880 WA points.

“We are thinking of creating such a list at the end of each year in the future, because it is valuable information gathered together, which allows us to follow the development of athletics in our city,” says A. Fomenko.
