Georgian Cadets Win at Games | Podium Success

SPORTS. The 47e edition of the Chaudière-Appalaches Cadet Games took place on January 24 at the Polyvalente de Saint-Georges. In total, more than 280 cadets competed for top honors in different sporting disciplines.

Throughout the day, the eleven corps and squadrons of cadets competed in four different disciplines, namely kin-ball, volleyball, soccer and badminton. Due to the extremely low temperatures, a change has been made to the programming. Initially, soccer matches were to be played outdoors. “We went with common sense. It would not have been safe for our cadets and our referees to play outside,” explains Captain Frédérick Guay.

The Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps 2625 from Saint-Georges won the most points in this competition. Squadron 890, also from Saint-Georges, finished in third place and took the banner for the most points collected in badminton. The podium was completed by the Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron 881 from Saint-Joseph. The Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps 2787 from Saint-Zacharie won the sportsmanship trophy. The other participating cadet corps are those of Beauceville (619), Lac-Mégantic (1937), Haute-Beauce (2680), Lac-Etchemin (2765), Sainte-Marie (2898), Sainte-Justine (2948) and Thetford Mines (775).
