The German international returned too early for the special game in his homeland after his injury and is now still out with the Orlando Magic.
“Everything is fine, it’s getting better every day,” said Wagner when asked about his injury before his Magic’s game against the Miami Heat during the week. For the away win, Wagner was unavailable for his team due to ankle problems. “I’m definitely not where I want to be to be able to play again and play consistently.”
The forward had already missed the three previous encounters. The last time he was on the floor was in the middle of the month in the two games against the Memphis Grizzlies as part of the NBA Europe Games. The game in Berlin was his first after a six-week break. The 24-year-old suffered a severe left ankle sprain at the beginning of December but returned to the field in time for the game in his home country.
“Of course I really wanted to play in Berlin. But I probably wasn’t ready for it yet,” he admitted with some sadness.
