The Dietzenbach fire department is 150 years old. An extensive festival program awaits citizens from February to November.

2026 is a very special year for the Dietzenbach fire department. For 150 years, volunteers have been on the scene at fires in the district town, bringing people and (if necessary) animals to safety. In the anniversary year, the armed forces have prepared a lot to celebrate the big birthday appropriately. The fire fighters don’t just want to celebrate themselves, but together with the people of Dietzenbach.

From February to November there is a party atmosphere Dietzenbacher Weir. The celebration begins with the carnival parade on Saturday, February 7th. The volunteers want to be represented there with their own float.

City fire inspector is elected

The academic celebration continues on March 6th. Although only invited guests are present at the event, the armed forces will celebrate properly on a smaller scale.

Voting must also be made in an anniversary year. New city fire inspectors will be appointed on March 20th. As of now, incumbent Michael Plahusch will not run again. A week later (27th) the fire brigade association meets.

The fire brigade museum wakes up from hibernation on April 5th, and on April 25th there is a paw and youth flame acceptance ceremony at the children’s and youth fire brigade. Here the young volunteers can show what they have learned about fire protection.

Visitors are invited again from 5 p.m. to the solstice fire on June 20th and the “after-work” event on the founding day of the defense force in the museum on July 2nd – and plenty of them.

The 150th birthday will be celebrated to the fullest during a three-day festival weekend from September 11th to 13th. There is a lot on offer for visitors at “Rock & Fire” that is more than worthy of such a big anniversary. The festival will be opened by the band “Pfund” from 6.30 p.m., on Saturday you can marvel at the “Historical Heroes” exhibition from 2 p.m., before “Roy Hammer & the Pralinées” will warm up the fire department fans from 7.30 p.m.

Sunday attracts with a full program. On “Fire Brigade Day” the comrades go all out again with an ecumenical service, morning drinks, demonstrations, a vehicle exhibition and live music from the “BockBierBande” and the “Quietschboys”. It starts at 10 a.m.

After so much partying, it’s time to sober up. But the next celebration is just around the corner. Of course, the Dietzenbacher Wehr will be there again at the Kerb from October 30th to November 3rd – with its own tent at the fire brigade museum.

The last highlight of the anniversary year awaits at the end of November: on the 28th and 29th she will be at the Christmas market in the old town.

City fire inspector Michael Plahusch looks at the history of the Dietzenbacher Weir with satisfaction: “When you see what has become of it, you can say that it is a model of success. We are proud to be a part of it. The fact that so many people have volunteered there over the past 150 years is encouraging.”

422 missions in 2025

The Dietzenbacher Wehr not only has an eventful year ahead of it, but also behind it. The volunteers went out on missions 422 times. 204 assistance, 88 fires and 3 fire safety stations take effect. For example, the fire department helped open doors, rescued birds and cats, and was on hand to respond to traffic accidents. Annoying: The emergency services were deployed 126 times for nothing – a false alarm.

The fire brigade is particularly remembered Sauna fire in the “Garden of Eden” wellness center on February 23rd, the roof structure fire on Hans-Böckler-Straße (March 9th) and one fatal apartment fire on Offenbacher Strasse on June 8th. But the warehouse fire on Siemensstrasse on June 29th, when a gas bottle exploded during extinguishing work, is also remembered.

The fire department also had to move out on New Year’s Eve. Five sorties after midnightfour small fires caused by fireworks and a triggered fire alarm system, said spokesman Marc Schreiner.
