Congo sees its Africa Cup dream shattered after a late Algerian goal

For Congo, the story is written in the Africa Cup. Against Algeria, penalties seemed to decide a ticket for the quarter-finals. But a goal from Boulbina in the penultimate minute of extra time plunged Congo into mourning.
In the group stage, Congo scored a nice 1-1 against tournament favorite Senegal. Then you can dream of more.
But in Algeria, the Congolese faced a tough customer.
Congo did provide some threats before the break. In the 2nd half, Algeria responded with a free kick from Riyad Mahrez (ex-City) and shots from Amoura (ex-Union).
After 90 minutes the glasses score remained on the board. Both teams prepared for penalties deep in the second extra period.
But that was without Adil Boulbina. The Angers midfielder led Algeria to the quarter-finals with a hard shot in the square.
A downer for Congo with well-known faces such as Joris Kayembe (Racing Genk), Théo Bongonda (ex-Racing Genk), Chancel Mbemba (ex-Anderlecht), Michel-Ange Balikwisha (ex-Antwerp) and Noah Sadiki (ex-Union).
Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso will compete against each other tonight for the last ticket for the quarter-finals.
