Approximately 48 hours after their elimination in the first round of the playoffs, the Los Angeles Chargers fired their offensive coordinator Greg Roman.
Roman joined the Chargers for the 2024 season, after stints with the San Francisco 49ers (2011-2014), the Buffalo Bills (2015-2016) and the Baltimore Ravens (2019-2022).
The Chargers have scored 368 points this season, 20th in the league. The Chargers’ 36 offensive touchdowns placed the team in 25th place in the NFL in this regard.
With Roman as offensive coordinator the past two seasons, Justin Herbert has thrown for less than 3,800 yards on average per season, a far cry from his three consecutive seasons of over 4,300 yards at the start of his career.
The Chargers were one of 17 teams to amass at least 2,000 rushing yards this season, but the ten rushing touchdowns provided was the lowest total among those teams.
The Chargers were also limited to three points on Sunday against the New England Patriots in the first round of the playoffs.
