Liverpool

Premier League – Matchday 21 – 08/01/26 – 9:00 PM

The top teams all kept each other in balance in the midweek matchday of the Premier League. After the draw between Manchester City and Aston Villa, we now also received a spectacular score in Arsenal-Liverpool.

Due to a win in the direct match against Aston Villa and due to the failure of Manchester City, Arsenal had been further ahead in the Premier League in recent matchdays.

Last night the Gunners saw how Villa and City again could not get further than a draw and so they were able to widen the gap again to 8 points.

At Liverpool, Arne Slot had to do some serious puzzling again to get enough fit players. Arsenal grabbed the champion by the throat in the first half, but were happy that they did not go into halftime trailing. Bradley hit the crossbar from the second line.

In the second half Arsenal completely lost control. Liverpool had almost 75% of the ball possession and hurt the leader mainly with the outbreaks of the lightning-fast Frimpong. Only the feet did not cooperate for the Dutchman.

Trossard was one of the 5 players that Arteta brought into the side, but the freshmen only started to pay off in the final phase, which still resulted in a few chances.

In extra time, Trossard’s replacement Martinelli incurred the wrath of the Liverpool players when he roughly dragged Bradley over the touchline, even though the Northern Irishman appeared to have seriously injured himself.
