Marko Arnautovic continues to be a hot topic at Red Star Belgrade.
A few days after general director Zvezdan Terzic expressed his dissatisfaction with the ÖFB striker (read here >>>), Dejan Stankovic, neo-coach of the red and whites, was also asked about the star striker.
The former world-class midfielder showers roses on the 36-year-old. “I’ve known Marko for almost 20 years. He knows what I think, I’m his coach for the first time, he’s a phenomenal player, a very good boy.”
“15 games like for Austria”
Nevertheless, the 47-year-old ex-Serbia international demands that Arnautovic step up a gear: “He has to change his pace, go into fifth gear and put everything in order. If he gives me around 15 games like he did for Austria, I’ll be over the moon.”
Red Star fell well short of its own expectations in the fall. In the league, the Serbian series champions are only in second place behind rivals Partizan, they failed in the Champions League qualification against Paphos and in the Europa League they are only in 17th place after six match days.
The weak autumn cost Vladan Milojevic his coaching job shortly before Christmas.
