According to the report, Ares’ measure was a consequence of the internal reorganization carried out by John Textor, who recently removed members of Eagle’s board of directors. This was interpreted as an additional risk to creditors.
Despite the clause having been activated by Ares, the Eagle Football remains in charge of Botafogo and under the management of John Textor. This is because there is an injunction in the Court of Justice of Rio de Janeiro, which protects the composition of the Council and the governance structure, thus guaranteeing, for the time being, the permanence of the current administration of Glorioso.
