At AA Gent they are currently preparing for the second half of the season in Spain. Rik De Mil also gives many opportunities to young talent, because several players from the core of Jong Gent were allowed to come along to prove themselves.
That should not be surprising, because the young Buffaloes are having an excellent season in the Challenger Pro League. Halfway through, they are in a very surprising eighth place in the rankings. A number of young people fully manifested themselves.

AA Gent signs Soroka for longer
One of the revelations at Jong Gent this season is without a doubt Oleksandr Soroka. The 18-year-old Ukrainian became a permanent fixture in midfield and was also rewarded with a ticket for the first team training period.
Now Soroka gets a new reward. Ghent announces that the talented youth international has been offered a new contract until 2030. “KAA Gent is convinced of his talent and looks forward to the next steps in his development,” it said.
Ghent believes in talent
Soroka settled in Ghent at the beginning of 2023. As a result of the outbreak of war in Ukraine, he was transferred from Shakhtar Donetsk for free. After a year and a half with the U18s, he moved on to Jong Gent in the summer of 2024.
He has already made sixteen appearances there this season, providing one assist. Undoubtedly it will only be a matter of time before he gets his chance with the big boys.
