When does the Olympics start?
On Friday February 6 from 8 p.m the 2026 Winter Olympics will be inaugurated, and its conclusion is then scheduled for Sunday, February 22 from 5 p.m. However, some competitions will take place even before the start, so let’s take a look at the program of individual sports.
Program of the 2026 Winter Olympics
Two days before the start, i.e. on February 4, the mixed doubles will play their first sharp matches in the curling tournament. A day later, the women’s ice hockey tournament and the qualification of acrobatic snowboarders will also start. When are the individual sports taking place and how is the Czech Republic represented in them?
Alpine skiing
- The first training sessions for alpine skiing take place from February 4 to 6, after which the fierce battles for medals will begin. Precious metals will be competed for in five men’s and five women’s disciplines from February 7 to 18.

Cross-country skiing
- The first cross-country skiing medals will be handed out on Saturday February 7ththe last ones on Sunday February 22. One of the most traditional sports also has a very large representation of Czech Olympians.

Biathlon
- After hockey, perhaps the most popular winter sport in the Czech Republic in recent years. Biathletes led by Markéta Davidová and Vítězslav Hornig will want from February 8 to 21 build on numerous Czech successes from past Olympics.
Beans
- Bobsled is one of the two sports at the Winter Olympics in which there is no Czech representation. Bobsledders will fight for precious metals from 15 to 22 February.
Curling
- The Czech Republic will be represented on the curling track in two different competitions. The mixed pair of Vít Chabičovský and Julie Zelingrová and the men’s team are fighting for a historic result from February 4 to 22.

Freestyle skiing
- Ski cross, bump riding or even acrobatic jumps. These are the disciplines of freestyle skiing in which the Czech representatives will fight for the best possible result from February 7 to 21.

Figure skating
- Figure skating competitions will take place from February 6 to 19. Czech fans will be especially interested in the category of dance couples. It will culminate on Wednesday, February 11.
Ice hockey
- The women’s hockey program at the Olympics will start first, their tournament starts already on Thursday, February 5. The men will begin the group stage on Wednesday, February 11. The culmination of the tournaments is scheduled for the end of the Olympics, the women will receive their medals on February 19, the final matches of the men’s tournament are scheduled for February 21 and 22.
Speed skating
- Speed skating is traditionally a strong discipline of the Czech expedition to the Olympic Games, and therefore also enjoys great interest from domestic fans. Precious metals will be given away from February 7 to 21.
Carriage
- The Czech Republic will have one representative in the luge competition at this year’s Olympics. It will be raced from 7 to 12 Februarythe men’s competition with Ondřej Hyman will culminate on Sunday, February 8.

Nordic combination
- Nordic combined is one of the most traditional sports and the only one in which only men compete at this year’s Games. Precious metals will be fought over February 11, 17 and 19.

Short-track
- The Czech Republic also has a representative in another speed skating discipline at this year’s Olympics. Petra Vaňková will compete for one of the medals in the short-track from 10 to 20 February.

Skeleton
- The upside-down ice rink races are about to begin February 12 and climax February 15th. Czech iron on fire Anna Fernstädtová will fight for her dream precious metal on Saturday, February 14.
Ski mountaineering
- The only new sport at the Italian Winter Olympics, ski mountaineering, will have a sharp debut from February 19 to 21. No one from the Czech Republic was nominated for the Olympics.
Ski jumping
- In the ski jumping competitions, the experienced matador Roman Koudelka will not be missing, the women even have three representatives led by the Czech record holder Anežka Indráčková. They will fight for the best position from February 7 to 16.
Snowboarding
- Traditionally, Czech fans have high hopes for snowboarding competitions. Three-time gold medalist Ester Ledecká, Eva Adamczyková or even Jakub Hroneš will fight for precious metals on the board from February 5 to 18.
