Bac Ninh Ignites Spring Festival Spirit with Thrilling Badminton and Pickleball Tournament
Bac Ninh, Vietnam – The vibrant spirit of the Lunar New Year, or Spring Festival, is already in full swing in Bac Ninh Province, thanks to a dynamic badminton and pickleball tournament that has brought together hundreds of athletes and officials.This isn’t just about smashing shuttlecocks or dinking pickleballs; it’s a powerful display of unity, health, and dedication, echoing the timeless ideals of President Ho Chi Minh.
Mr. Nguyen Van Anh, deputy director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of bac Ninh Province, underscored the event’s profound significance. this tournament is a sporting celebration honoring the Party and the 2026 Spring Festival, carrying substantial political and social weight,
he stated. It showcases the unwavering commitment and excited participation of officials, leaders, and managers at all levels in the physical education, sports, and physical training movement, a legacy inspired by the great President Ho Chi Minh.
This sentiment resonates deeply, as the competition fosters a palpable sense of camaraderie. It contributes to strengthening exchanges, solidarity, and close ties between agencies, units, and local authorities,
Mr. Anh added. Crucially, it’s about building a team of officers who are ‘healthy to lead, healthy to contribute, and healthy to serve the people.’
The tournament has drawn an notable contingent of over 400 athletes representing 64 diverse units, including provincial departments, agencies, organizations, and municipalities and districts. The action unfolds across two fast-paced sports: badminton and pickleball, all played in a thrilling round-robin format.
In the badminton arena, the competition is fierce, notably in the leaders’ doubles categories. Men’s doubles, mixed doubles, and group divisions (categorized into groups 1, 2, and 3) are providing edge-of-your-seat action.
Simultaneously occurring, the pickleball courts are buzzing with energy. The provincial leaders’ tournament is a highlight, featuring men’s doubles. Additionally, leaders from departments, agencies, organizations, and municipalities and districts are showcasing their skills in men’s doubles across two age brackets: 45 and under, and 46 and over. The leadership tournament at the departmental level also includes men’s doubles and mixed doubles, again split into the same age groups, ensuring a level playing field for all.
A key rule ensuring fair play and broad participation is that each athlete can only compete in one event, with no cross-participation between badminton and pickleball.
As the final rallies conclude and the last pickleballs are served,the organizing committee will be on hand to present coveted trophies and medals to the victorious duos. Second and third-place finishers will also receive well-deserved medals, with four special incentive prizes recognizing outstanding performances across various competition categories.
