Saveliy Korosteljov is one of the Russians now expecting to be given the green light for neutral status and thus be eligible to participate in the World Cup following the CAS decision last week.

Now the young ski star, who recently turned 22, plans to run the World Cup in Davos next weekend.

– He will go directly from Tiumen to Davos, says the president of the Russian Ski Federation Jelena Välbe to Russian media, something Expressen was the first in Sweden to report.

Great talent

If Korosteljov starts in Davos, it will be the first time since the 2022 Olympics that a Russian skater will compete against international opposition.

– Give me a few weekends in the World Cup and I’ll know what level I’m at, says the 22-year-old, to SVT.

The 22-year-old became a double world champion at the 2022 World Junior Championships, before Russian skaters were banned from international participation.

Awaiting approval

And according to the former great skier Välbe, who now controls Russian skiing, Korostjeljov has had his visa approved and is waiting to have his application for neutral active approved by Fis, which is expected to be ready this week.

– Until the payment goes through, there will be no status, says Korostjelov according to Match TV.
