This moment became new history because for the first time in the federation’s 95 years, PSSI presented an awards event for national football people.

In the 2026 edition, there are 17 award categories up for grabs. Nine of them are performance awards, such as Best Male Player, Best Female Player.

“The basis of this nomination is the empirical data we have from national team and I.League data,” he added.

In addition, there are eight categories of special recognition awards. The assessment for this category comes from internal PSSI without a voting mechanism.

Awards include Best Referee, Best Assistant Referee, Best Legend, Best Asprov, Best Youth Development, Best Football Development Program, Best Supporter and Best Man Behind the Jersey.

Voting for the performance category is open to the public from January 1 to February 28 2026, both online and offline. The winners will be announced at the same time as the 2026 FIFA Series agenda.

One of the panelists, Hermansyah, explained the reasons for the absence of the best coach category.

“This is the first time it has been held in Indonesia, so we are adapting it to the current format. So for now, that’s the category for now,” said Hermansyah.

“What is clear is that this has become history for Indonesian football. So it is a reward for the players to be more enthusiastic,” he said.

Persib Bandung midfielder, Thom Haye, welcomed this event.

“I think this is a very good thing. This award gives appreciation and recognition to the players,” said Thom.

“It’s good for the players who have given everything throughout this year. It feels good to be appreciated. From PSSI’s side, this also shows their involvement and care for the players,” he said.

Meanwhile, Beckham Putra believes that events like this can be additional motivation for the players to continue to improve their performance on the field.
