Campillos will officially step into the spotlight as the regional capital for Andalusian archery when it hosts the Campeonato de Andalucía de Equipos de Clubes 2026 on September 6. According to local municipal officials and club organizers, the tournament marks the first time the municipality has hosted a competition of this type for the discipline, bringing approximately 200 athletes representing over 50 different clubs to the newly homologated municipal sports complex.

Speaking at a presentation in the town hall’s plenary room, CD Arqueros de Campillos secretary Juan Miguel Gómez explained that initial entry projections sat at 34 teams before high demand forced a redesign of the event’s format.
“De entrada, la participación iba a ser de 34 equipos, pero debido a la alta demanda y tras hablarlo con la Federación, esta cifra se va a aumentar,” Gómez stated, noting that roughly 20 additional teams will be admitted to accommodate the surge. The adjustment guarantees that approximately 200 archers from across Andalusia will compete across various divisions, including recurve, compound, and traditional archery disciplines.
Municipal Leadership Seeks to Position Town as Sporting Hub
Municipal leadership emphasized the strategic value of hosting the regional championship.
Sports Councilor Miguel Cortés described securing the bid as an immense source of pride for the locality, highlighting the administration’s efforts to position Campillos as a place of reference in Andalusia within archery. According to Cortés, the tournament offers an invaluable platform to showcase the municipality’s capacity to deliver major athletic competitions.
Infrastructure Upgrades Secure Official Certification
Behind the scenes, the successful bid relied heavily on upgrading local athletic infrastructure to meet strict regulatory benchmarks.
Federación technicians recently inspected and certified the municipal shooting range, granting official status to a venue that organizers now cite as one of the finest homologated facilities in Andalusia. Gómez noted that this official certification opens the door for Campillos to pursue other archery competitions in the future.
Free Admission and On-Site Amenities Await Spectators
For local sports fans and traveling spectators, attendance for the September 6 tournament will be entirely free of charge. The host club, CD Arqueros de Campillos, also plans to operate an on-site refreshment stand throughout the duration of the event to accommodate visitors at the municipal sports complex.
