Thai Players: SEA Games Gold Quest After Indonesia Loss

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

Striker Thailand U-23 Yotsakorn Burapha promises to win the men’s soccer gold medal SEA Games 2025 while forgetting the defeat to Indonesia two years ago.

Thailand will fight for gold at the 2025 SEA Games in the final against Vietnam, Thursday (18/12). This is the second final for Burapha because in the previous edition, the War Gajah team lost to Indonesia in the 2023 SEA Games.

“In this final, I want Thai football fans to come and support us. If possible, I want the stadium to be full,” he said as quoted by Thairath.

“We will try to put on an interesting match and take the title home,” he emphasized.

Yotsakorn Burapha was the winner for Thailand in the semifinals against Malaysia. The goal from a free kick in the eighth minute was the only ball that found its way into Harimau Malaya’s goal.

“I am grateful that the free kick decided the victory. Thank you to my teammates and coaches for being able to return to the final. Thank you everyone,” said Burapha.

Looking at the opponents he will face, the 20 year old player considers Vietnam to be a worthy opponent. Therefore, Burapha really wants to succeed in his second attempt at the SEA Games final.

“The final against Vietnam will be a good match. They are a strong team and we have to get ready against Vietnam,” he said.

Furthermore, the player who defends the Chonburi club wants the Thai people to come to the Rajamangala Stadium to provide direct support.

According to him, the cheers from the audience will increase the players’ motivation to realize their ambition of first gold in men’s football, which was last achieved in 2017.
