Sport, Smiles & Christmas: Festive Fun!

Tyneside Badminton Centre proudly hosted an open to all festive Christmas party for its disability multi-sport group, delivered in association with Newcastle Rugby Foundation and Northumberland Cricket Board.

The multi-sport sessions bring together badminton, cricket and rugby, with activities led by experienced coaches from Tyneside Badminton Centre, Northumberland Cricket Board and Newcastle Rugby Foundation.

The Christmas celebration built on the success of these sessions, creating a fun, inclusive environment where participants could enjoy sport, socialise and celebrate the festive season together.

Ian Wardle, Director of Cricket at Northumberland Cricket Board, said: “Northumberland Cricket were delighted to be part of the Christmas celebration at Tyneside Badminton Centre.

The programme is such a positive and welcoming environment for participants to learn and parents to enjoy being part of cricket, badminton and rugby activities.

It is so great to see friendships that have been made and opportunities to celebrate together and look forward to more of the same in the new year.”

The 2025 Christmas party featured a range of competitive games across all three sports, encouraging teamwork, confidence and friendly competition.

A highlight of the day was a special visit from Newcastle Red Bulls players, who joined in with the activities and helped hand out Christmas gifts to participants, adding an extra touch of excitement and inspiration.

The event highlighted the strength of partnership working and the shared commitment to making sport open to all, accessible and enjoyable for everyone.

Tyneside Badminton Centre would like to thank Newcastle Rugby Foundation, Northumberland Cricket Board, the Newcastle Red Bulls players, and all coaches who helped make the celebration so special for all the participants.
