Men’s singles, Michel gave his all once again. After losing the first set, he turned the game around and secured the draw against TSV Neuhausen-Nymphenburg with a confident score of 15:21, 21:14 and 21:8.

A day later, on the 4th of Advent, the team traveled to Regensburg to play against the team second in the table. Supported by some fans who had traveled with them, the team received active support. As expected, SV Fortuna Regensburg played with the best international line-up and presented the team with major challenges. In the first men’s doubles, Ludwig and Tim fought hard, but in the end had to admit defeat 12:21 and 18:21. Paula and Lotte also clearly lost in the women’s doubles with 13:21 and 12:21. In the second men’s doubles, Michel and Wilhelm delivered many exciting rallies, but despite their efforts they were unable to prevail and lost 15:21 and 12:21. The mixed doubles, this time played by Tim and Lotte, ensured rallies worth seeing with a lot of enthusiasm and were able to win a few points. Nevertheless, this encounter ultimately went to Regensburg.

Michel’s third men’s singles was a bright spot, which he won confidently against Valerian Eckert with 21:16 and 21:18, thus securing the only point for his team. Unfortunately, Paula didn’t really find her way into the game in the women’s singles and had to admit defeat to the previously undefeated Jelena Buchberger. Ludwig also had no success in the men’s singles and lost 12:21 and 15:21 after intense and long rallies.

The finale was the first men’s singles, in which Wilhelm and Jachym Gerginov fought an outstanding battle. Long rallies, precise shots and full commitment ensured a highly exciting game with consistently close scores in which the entire team was excited. In the end, Jachym Gerginov narrowly won the game (21:19, 18:21, 21:19). With the final score of 1:7, DHfK I suffered their first defeat of the season. In the table, the first team slipped behind SV Fortuna Regensburg, but still finished the first half of the Regionalliga Southeast in a very strong second place in the table.

The 1st team would like to thank everyone for their support throughout the season so far, especially the fans at all home games. We look forward to many more exciting encounters in the new year. The second half of the season begins in January: on January 17th. (3 p.m.) the DHfK welcomes SV Lohhof and on January 18th. (11 a.m.) the TSV Neubiberg-Ottobrunn in Leipzig. As always, spectators are very welcome!
