The Quebec Major Baseball League (QMLB) took advantage of its annual gala on November 29 to highlight the attachment and loyalty of fans to their team.
Regular spectators at the matches of each of the eleven teams were honored, including Nicole Couture, fan number one of the Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu Pirates.
Holder of a season ticket since the team took up residence at the Richard-Lafontaine stadium in 2015, Nicole Couture very rarely misses a match of “her” Pirates. Even though she assiduously follows the Pirates when they play on opposing fields across Quebec, whether in Shawinigan or during a doubleheader on a Saturday in Sherbrooke and Coaticook. She is accompanied by her partner, Roger Couture, also a big supporter of the team.
“I always loved baseball. We can say that I am a supporter and platform manager,” says Nicole Couture, both surprised and pampered by this mark of recognition from the leaders of the LBMQ.

It is not the whims of Mother Nature that will discourage Nicole Couture. Whether it’s hot afternoons or cool fall evenings, she makes it a point to cheer on the Pirates.
“We are privileged to have a senior team in Saint-Jean. We have good baseball and the team is having success. I am first and foremost a baseball fan,” she says.
Although she has seen players from the early days evolve, such as François Lafrenière, Guillaume Morin, Nicolas Loiseau and Kevin Tremblay, Nicole Couture emphasizes that she does not have a favorite player. “I encourage the team. I am a positive supporter. »

Of all the stadiums of the LBMQ teams, that of Acton Vale is the most beautiful, according to Nicole Couture. As for the Richard-Lafontaine stadium, she admits that improvements would not be a luxury. “Our stadium needs love,” she concludes.
